Position Summary This is a Windows Systems Administrator position within the Dell SecureWorks. This individual must provide hands-on expertise to support 600+ critical Windows servers in an enterprise-level, high-security, high-uptime environment. Candidates will provide support to multiple, distributed Security Operations Center teams and product functions. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of Windows 2008R2/2012R2/2016 operating systems, Active Directory, on both Dell and VMWare hosted systems. They must also possess a basic understanding of centralized systems management, security, and monitoring. Candidates will work with minimal direction to implement hardware and software solutions to improve site efficiency, performance, and security, guided by operational and project objectives. Candidates will participate in the planning phase for systems requirements on projects to upgrade or migrate infrastructure systems and services, and own tasks for the implementation of those projects. They will also participate in user management and access control in an audited environment. An additional responsibility will be installation of security errata and patches throughout the environment, following all requirements. Candidates will need to manage multiple assignments and processes and shifting priorities. Candidates will participate in rotating 24/7 on-call support, and work second-shift hours occasionally in support of vulnerability remediation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provisioning • Deploy and validate builds of Windows servers on both physical and virtual hardware based on compliance standards and build documents. Update documentation to reflect new builds or decommission activities; provide input to improve deployment processes. • Support internal clients with the deployment of applications across multiple environments, including Citrix. Document each application addition in repeatable detail. Operational Support • Deploy Microsoft security and application as well as 3rd party application patches to Windows server environment. These processes include change management, coordination with application teams, testing, rollback and auditing. • Manage and monitor the Active Directory environment, including AD and Linux authentication, domain services, GPO creation and management, user and computer groups, and DNS Zone management over multiple domain and organizational units. • Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware failures and develops solutions. • Solid understanding of change management processes and ability to follow those processes unerringly. • Develops innovative solutions to problems without precedent. • Proactive monitoring of servers and applications to identify resource constraints and improve overall performance. • Monitor Windows team ticket queue, assume responsibility and provide remediation for issues, and ensure SLA’s are met. • Work with Virtualization and Storage teams to identify resource constraints; perform optimization and upgrades to the environment. • Perform hardware support as necessary; trouble-shooting with vendor and replace defective parts as appropriate. • Additional responsibilities as tasks arise. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities • Energetic and driven to provide top-notch service to internal clients. • 8-10 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. • 5+ years maintaining/supporting Windows Server 2008/2012 environments at an enterprise level. • 5+ years maintaining/supporting Active Directory at an enterprise level. • Experienced in scripting and / or programming (PowerSehll, bash, Python etc.) • Strong knowledge of systems administration, operating systems, and hardware. • Solid understanding of change management processes and the ability to follow those processes unerringly. • Ability, and initiative to execute broad assignments requiring minimal direction with personal accountability. • Deployment and management experience of Windows servers running in a VMWare environment. • Basic knowledge of enterprise datacenter technologies including Networking, Security, TCP/IP, SAN, and DNS • Excellent troubleshooting, research and documentation skills. • Basic knowledge of Datacenter Operations. • Basic knowledge of industry standards and audit requirements.
